How we got started

ODK FRAMES started in 2015 somewhat out of necessity, having a BBQ Supply store where we sold components and grills for built-in applications and watching these pieces get installed into some very questionable structures, we knew that there had to be a better way to provide a product to help our customers get the piece of mind and quality that would last a lifetime for their outdoor living space. Our first frame was built with help from a landscaper who made it out of concrete filled CMU blocks, it was time consuming and weighed so much that the pad it was on started to fail over time. The second attempt was much lighter, as it was made out of steel studs. This process was also very time consuming, had to be built onsite, and felt weak until the backer was installed. We knew that neither of these methods were going to be a successful way to build kitchens for our customers. Then one day, in an industrial supply store, we mentioned to our sales rep that we were trying to determine the best way to build a kitchen frame and he asked if we thought about welding aluminum. Initially we thought that welding aluminum was way out of our league, but he brought us into the demo room and pulled out the welder, cutters, some aluminum and said give it a shot. We left that day with all the products we used and setup our first fabrication shop in the single bay shop/barn on our property. Our next frame was welded with 1.5″ square tube aluminum, backed with a magnesium Oxide (MgO) board, and carried into our customers backyard and set into place. Now, with hundreds of completed kitchens out there, and an actual fabrication shop, we know that we can help other grill stores and landscapers turn those questions about outdoor kitchen from referrals to someone else, into customers that they can support.
